Where’d Summer Go?

It’s already August, do you know where your summer went?

In the part of the country that I live in, school starts back for a half day on August 8th and full time on August 11th.

Early!

Sure, the kids got out before Memorial Day, way before the dog days of summer even hit. But before Labor Day is even a thought in anybody’s mind, the busesĀ are readiedĀ and the backpacks are filled up, sitting by the door, ready for the proverbial ‘end of summer.’

Did you go swimming enough this summer? I didn’t.

Did you go camping even once? I didn’t. {*although I much prefer camping in the spring or fall anyway}

Did you catch any fireflies? I didn’t.

Did you go on summer vacation? Oh, Hey! I did that!!

At least I did that part right, without letting the long days and nights of summer get completely away from me.

Did you eat any S’mores? I did that, too!

Did you see old friends that you hadn’t seen in a long time? I was able to add that to my summer pack this year – Yay me!

What was the number one thing you wanted to do this summer?

Did you do it?

Why or why not?

If you still have time to get it done before summer really is over where you live, then by all means, figure out a way to make it happen.

But, if you just can’t make it happen, then map out a plan to make it happen soon. Even if it’s long after the summer months have waned.

Because when it’s all said and done, what really matters is what you did.

Every single thing you left undone is gone.

Don’t dwell on it.

But do make a plan for ensuring that you make the most out of every day, every season, and every moment as it passes you by.

Because Life’s Too Short to miss it.
